Sorting is like arranging your filing cabinet - same information, but organized exactly how you need it.
Sort students by name (alphabetical)
Sort by marks (highest to lowest)

Using your Mathematics grade book:
Step 1: Prepare for Sorting (2 minutes)
Select ALL your data including headers (A1:H7)
This is crucial - Excel needs to know what belongs together
Never select just one column when sorting!
Step 2: Sort by Student Name (3 minutes)
With data selected, click "Data" tab
Click "Sort" button
Sort by: Student Name
Order: A to Z
Click OK
Students are now alphabetically organized!
Step 3: Sort by Final Marks (3 minutes)
Select your data again (A1:H7)
Data → Sort
Sort by: Final Mark
Order: Largest to Smallest
Click OK
Top performers are now at the top!
Step 4: Advanced Multi-Level Sort (4 minutes)
Select data again
Data → Sort
Sort by: Symbol (A to Z)
Click "Add Level"
Then by: Final Mark (Largest to Smallest)
Click OK
